Latin America in the 21st Century: New Visions New Challenges

Join us for a stimulating discussion about the social and political changes currently sweeping through Latin America.  Learn how progressive governments backed by powerful social movements are gaining momentum and joining forces to shift power into the hands of their people and foster alternative models of development based on cooperation and regional integration.  Find out how countries of Latin America are working together to confront current economic, environmental, and food crises facing the planet.  Discuss what these changes signify for the region as a whole and for the U.S.

Featured speakers include the UN ambassadors of Bolivia, Cuba (waiting for confirmation), Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

Followed by live music from the highly acclaimed band Yerba Buena and renowned musician Rolando Briceño.

When: Friday, September 5, 2008, 6:30 PM
