Presidential Press Basseterre, Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis -- Minutes after learning about the first official results announced by the electoral authorities of Iran, this Friday, President Hugo Chávez called his counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to convey the message of congratulations from the Venezuelan people for the great victory won in the recent presidential elections. After the official conclusion of the 6th Presidential Summit of Petrocaribe, on the island of Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Venezuelan head of state talked with Ahmadinejad, who was reelected for another term heading the government of the Iranian nation, for the next four years. The Iranian leader recognized the importance of the struggle that this electoral conjuncture represented, which the Venezuelan leader said is "a very big and important victory" for the peoples who are fighting for a better world. President Chávez informed Ahmadinejad that, during the 6th Petrocaribe Summit, all the leaders in attendance were paying attention to the evolution of the Iranian electoral panorama and following all the results. On the occasion of the telephone conversation, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue to work to develop the increasingly closer bilateral relations. On this point, they announced their desire to have a new meeting soon. Iranian Victory After a vigorous campaign for reelection, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad succeeded in winning the support of more than 65 percent of voters to continue to push for the development of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
