Interview with Deputy Nidia Díaz: FMLN Gets Ready to Combat the Salvadoran Right’s Electoral Fraud

On the 15th of March, the Salvadoran people will go to the polling stations to choose their next president.  If the opinion surveys prove right, El Salvador will join the winds of change blowing across Latin America.

In an interview aired by the Dimensión 550 program of YVKE Mundial, Deputy Nidia Díaz said that the Farabundo Martí Liberation Front (FMLN) is organizing a campaign to prevent the ARENA party and the Right from committing a new electoral fraud.

During the recent municipal and legislative elections, ARENA managed to snatch the mayoralty of San Salvador from the FMLN.  The results were called into question since many well-documented reports uncovered that the Right brought thousands of people from other Central American countries to vote in the capital of El Salvador.  The foreigners were able to vote by using false, illegal identity cards.

In El Salvador, identity cards are issued by a private contractor that is under the ARENA government’s control.

Facing the danger that the Right seeks to repeat the fraud, Deputy Nidia Díaz said the FMLN is prepared and organized to prevent the violation of the popular will.
