Prime Minister Kan Cancels Visits to Disaster Areas “Due to Bad Weather”

Prime Minister Naoto Kan canceled his visits to Ishimaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, and Fukushima Prefecture scheduled to take place in the morning of the 21st. The cancellation is said to be due to bad weather. According to the now cancelled plan, the prime minister was to visit not only Ishimaki City, which was devastated by the recent earthquake and tsunami, but also a soccer field called “J Village” in Naraha-machi, Fukushima, which has been converted into the headquarters for the members of the Self Defense Force engaged in the task of pouring water on the Fukushima 1 nuclear reactors, attempting to cool them down.
