We Won’t Back Down: Join Us Tuesday at the Ohio Statehouse!!!

Come rally with us on Tuesday, March 1 at 9 a.m. when it is believed the Senate will vote on the bill!  Sources tell the union that the Senate Insurance, Commerce, and Labor Committee will only consider amendments to Senate Bill 5 on Tuesday and will no longer be hearing testimony.  It is likely that there will be a committee vote on Tuesday and a vote on the floor of the entire Senate that same day!

OCSEA members, their family, friends, and other community supporters are being asked to rally with us for the most important day yet in our fight against this bill.  Buses will be leaving from OCSEA at 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Brothers and sisters!  The fight is still on and we need you to keep the pressure on now more than ever.  Your voices are being heard and your actions are making a difference!  Yesterday we responded to proposed changes to Senate Bill 5 that, on the one hand, would reinstate your right to negotiate wages.  However, it takes away your right to strike at the same time, so it provides no incentive for management to ever come to an agreement.  We would also have no ability to bargain anything else in our contract!  And that’s not acceptable.

While we’re back in the bill for the purposes of bargaining wages, there is no way to negotiate those wages AND fundamental rights are still being ignored.

NO Collective Bargaining means:

NO right to bargain health care, including premiums and plan changes
NO grievance process
NO seniority rights
NO negotiated work schedules
NO health and safety committees
NO protections against massive furlough days (110 are allowable under Civil Service Law)

We will not back down!
