In 2011, CCR filed a lawsuit under the Alien Tort Statute (ATS) against coup-leader Roberto Micheletti Bain for the murder of 19-year-old Isis Obed Murillo, the first person killed in the post-coup resistance, as well as litigation under the Freedom of Information Act for information concerning the U.S. government's awareness of and actions taken in relation to the 2009 coup.
The Center for Constitutional Rights is dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
