Rendszerváltás? (A Nagy Csalódás) / System Change? (The Great Disappointment)

Over twenty some years now
We’ve been waiting for the good life
For the average citizen
Instead of wealth we have poverty
Unrestrained exploitation
So this is the big system change
So this is what you waited for

No housing, no food, no work
But that’s what was assured wouldn’t happen
Those on top prey upon us
The poor suffer everyday
So this is the big system change
So this is what you waited for

When will real change occur?
When will there be a livable world?
The ultimate solution will arise
When this economic system is forever abandoned
So this is the big system change
So this is what you waited for

There is no solution but revolution

Mouksa, the former singer/songwriter/guitarist of the Psychedelic Cowboys teamed up with lyricist (and president of ATTAC Hungary) Matyas Benyik in August of 2013 to write this song about the widespread feelings of disappointment with the results of the system change — from socialism to capitalism — in Hungary since 1990.  “Rendszerváltás (A Nagy Csalódás)” — or “Disappointment with the System Change” — is meant to go beyond partisan politics and instead to the very conditions and realities of exploding inequality, poverty, and homelessness in Hungary during the last 25 years.  This video was made with Mouksa’s new band The Mouksa Underground in February 2014.
